Gradually shifted acceptance
Have the humanistic values slowly displaced against a gradual acceptance of the unacceptable?
We want to investigate what this manipulation can do in a wider context and in human inner consciousness. What is it that makes individuals, political associations, entire communities support or turn a blind eye when refugees are unscrupulously stopped at borders and sent back to war-hardened countries or extremes as ethnic cleansing or genocide?
What happens when the indifference slowly becomes part of everyday life. Perhaps it is a conscious political strategy or are everyone, inclusive policy makers, mislead into an alteration no one believes can be possible? Just hoping we do not wake up in a society where artistic expressions are controlled by dark forces and humanistic values are vanished.
Is there a collective, intellectual responsibility that is not linked to individuals' own actions? The colonial world view and distorted historiography created to justify exploitation, oppression of groups, cultures, nations and entire continents governs our consciousness and lives on as commonly established knowledge.
This image is created to sustain the perspective about we and them, lives as an unreflective truth. It is difficult to consider, relate to course of events when we are constantly reminded that our own culture are the most excellent. A conscious or unconscious distortion lives on without being able to understand it’s full meaning.
In the human consciousness exists conceptions of the world as displaced and moves like a weighing scale towards one or another direction. How many delusions do we have or do we create unconsciously? Can we regard phenomenons in our time in an objective manner? Probably not, but the awareness about distortions in historiography should help swing the weighing scale and questioning the generally accepted values built up since generations back.
